Investigating Privately Plot Outline Leonard Wise is a bumbling private investigator who is hopelessly in love with his girlfriend of 12 years. After ridding his office of Pat Oglesby, an annoying and very strange vacuum salesman, Wise is visited by a man named Ted who suspects his wife of infidelity. Leonard agrees to take the case, not knowing he is in store for the stickiest situation of his career. But Leonard Wise always gets his man, and thanks to that weird salesman he might even solve this case! Making The Film Although the iDesign Films team members had previously worked on films made for the 48 Hour Film Project and the National Film Challenge, Investigating Privately was the first film in such a competition to be produced by the iDesign Films team. The film was written, shot, and edited over the course of three days from 7:00pm on Oct. 21, 2005 thru 4:00pm on Oct. 24, 2005. We made it through countless rewrites, 20 hours of shooting, and just as much time spent in the sleepless post-production process feeling confident about our film and proud of the work we had accomplished in such a short time. Despite being our first time leading a team, the weekend went as smoothly as we could have hoped. After a month or so of waiting, we heard back from the judges of the competition with the results that every team across the country had been waiting to hear. Though we were a little dissappointed that we did not walk away with the top film in the country, Investigating Privately took the award for best use of line in its time zone, as well as a special award for best fake mustache. Now, more than a year after the film was completed for the competition, we've renewed its online life by completely remastering the video and adding additional footage that was cut from the original due to the time constraints of the project.
